Jan Roberts serves as the EMBARK Women’s Transition Manager. She works with EMBARK participants while they are inside the Ohio Reformatory for Women to prepare them for successful reentry. Jan was employed as a Columbus Police Officer for twenty-eight years and served as a Detective in the Sexual Abuse Squad for over 11 years. In 2005 she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Ohio Dominican University, graduating Magnum Cum Laude.
Jan has been a member of the New Faith Baptist Church of Christ for twenty-three years. She is a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Praise Team.
In 2008, she began volunteering at Scioto Juvenile Correctional Facility, serving for five years with “Heart to Heart” a Christian based program that met twice a month with young women who were incarcerated in the facility. She also volunteered for two years as a mentor with the Kindway/EMBARK Ministry prior to being hired on.
She lives in Columbus with her husband of forty years. They have one daughter and one granddaughter.
